Dear Family,
On May 24, 2015, the feast of Pentecost, Pope Francis published his second encyclical. He began “LAUDATO SI’, mi’ Signore” – “Praise be to you, my Lord”. In the words of this beautiful canticle, Saint Fran-cis of Assisi reminds us that our common home is like a sister with whom we share our life and a beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us. “Praise be to you, my Lord, through our Sister, Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with colored flowers and herbs”.
Francis then reflected on how we relate to the cre-ation in which we live. During the Democratic primary debates ten days ago, I wondered if any of the candi-dates had read the encyclical. Who knows? Maybe they did. Francis ended with two prayers. Please! Read and pray them.
